Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Newport News, VA-NC (1888PressRelease) October 26, 2009 - Williamsburg, VA – Feather Schwartz Foster, author of “LADIES: A Conjecture of Personalities” will be discussing “Dolley Madison: Queen of Fashion” at a First Ladies Tea at the prestigious Presidents Park in Williamsburg, VA. The tea party, combined with the lecture and a book signing, will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 7, 2009. The cost is $19 per person.

According to the author, “Dolley Madison was the first “superstar” First Lady, and set the tone and the style for generations to come. Her influence was not only in fashion, but in décor, and in making the White House the center for social Washington.”

According to Foster, “Ladies: A Conjecture….” is a book of voices. In it, First Ladies between Martha Washington and Mamie Eisenhower tell their own stories – or, to be more exact, whatever they want – in their own words and in their own styles. It crosses boundaries between fact, conjecture and, most importantly, centuries. Through dialogue-boxes, the Ladies talk to each other across Eternity, where anything is possible. The Modern First Ladies, from Mrs. Kennedy through Mrs. Clinton participate in commentary. “The old gals talk to the reader and they talk amongst themselves. They talk about their husbands, and their children, and the White House, and the times they lived in. And, of course, politics

The First Ladies Tea Party is the first in what is planned to be a series of monthly First Ladies Teas to be given at Presidents Park. Different First Ladies will be featured each month – and several other related events are also planned for the venue.

Following a long career in advertising and having written a score of children’s musical shows, Feather Schwartz Foster she has decided to draw on her thousand-plus volume personal presidential library and her love of history by penning “LADIES: A Conjecture….” Her second novel, “Garfield’s Train” deals with President James Garfield’s death in Long Branch, NJ in 1881. A children’s book, “T: An Auto-Biography” about a Model-T Ford was recently published. She has recently signed a book contract for non-fiction works devoted to the First Ladies. She also continues to be an instructor with the Christopher Wren Society for adult education and has made more than 200 presentations about the “old gals” to various groups.

Presidents Park is located at 211 Water Country Parkway, Williamsburg, VA.
