April 09, 2008 - Sydney - Having a web site has become as essential as having a phone number for any business or individual to be reached on in Australia.
A domain name starts off a company on the web and allows that company to be seen, but there is often confusion amongst the Australian public on whether they should be paying for a domain name when they choose to setup a web site.
Web Hosting companies and domain registrars have all offered products over the years that have been lacking a key component, a free domain name.
Whilst Web Go has admitted to initially falling into the trap of slapping a fee on any new domain name registered, thankfully this unique and brave web host has now decided to offer the key component at NO CHARGE.
Web Go's CEO and Commander in Chief Jimmy Rowe, attributes the change of heart to one single thought he had whilst deciding to renew a key domain name in his companies stable of online properties. "I really only thought about this idea when I was sitting down and thinking about businesses doing it tough in the suburbs around Australia."
The web hosts idea has been spearheaded by a campaign to offer competitive prices, however Mr Rowe says this is nearly not enough, "I don’t believe enough web hosting companies are offering a FREE DOMAIN NAME when a new business gives them the pleasure of setting up a new web site, nor do I feel there is enough market competition to allow this to happen."
The Web Go strategy was born purely out of an idea to give the market a shake up, and give something back to consumers without throwing the value for money prices component out the window.
Web Go expects to announce more in the future about its progress. "Web Go is another host, but is an individual when it comes offering FREE components. We are going to stick to our guns on this strategy, if the industry doesn't want to take this idea on board it will be to their disadvantage," Mr Rowe said.
