November 14, 2006 - Belinda Emmett, one of Australia's most popular and loved stars died in Sydney's Saint Vincent's Hospital on Saturday 11/11/2006 at the tender age of 32.
Belinda, also the wife of TV star Rove McMannus, was not only famous for her various acting roles but also for her efforts in raising the awarenesss of breast cancer, especially in younger women.
When Belinda was diagnosed with breast cancer she not only concentrated on beating the disease herself but she also made sure that the Australian public was made aware of the prevalence of breast cancer and its effects.Despite taking on and beating breast cancer Belinda fell victim to another form of cancer which despite her strength and positive nature finally claimed her life.
Belinda's star now shines brightly in the Australian night sky but her many friends and admirers will never forget this beautiful, inspirational woman.
Australian funeral site
Obits.com.au posted a notice for Belinda on the day of her passing and allowed users to post their own message of condolence.
The reaction of the Australian public has been astounding. To date nearly 700 individual messages have been submitted to the site. Some are so moving that it is almost impossible to read through even a couple of the pages without raising a tear. And almost all of them are from people who never met Belinda but came to know her through her TV and charity work.
Belinda Emmett will be sadly missed by Australia and Australians everywhere but for us her star will always shine very brightly.
