Atlantic-Community.org is the signatory project of the Atlantic Initiative U.S. and its European counterpart Atlantische Initiative e.V., a think tank founded in Berlin five years ago. Atlantic-Community.org is dedicated to using innovative communication tools to improve international understanding. We believe in open, internet-based communication, crowd sourcing and citizen participation and apply these tools to foreign policy. More than 2,600 members have joined our bottom-up diplomacy movement already and the Federal President of Germany recently awarded us for this innovative approach.
The event is organized in cooperation with the Bertelsmann Foundation, the only pan-European, non-partisan think tank in Washington, DC. It established its presence in D.C. last year to broaden the work conducted in Germany and throughout Europe since 1977. The Foundation fosters cooperation and understanding among the transatlantic allies and promotes innovative thinking on the major political, economic and social issues that confront our countries on both sides of the ocean - foreign policy, global security, healthcare, education and demographics, amongst others.
