November 07, 2007 - The ASUS “Eee PC” is the mobile computer that, at first glance, looks like the conventional notebook but very slim, compact size of only 7 inches width screen and 0.92 kg weight. Despite its size, it is integrated with webcam, built-in speaker and microphone so that activities like video conferencing is truly wireless and fuss-free. Full functionality, the “Eee PC” is built under the concept of “Easy to Learn, Easy to Work, Easy to Play” so that you can learn, work, do presentation, watch movie, listen to music, play game, and surf the internet with ease. With pre-installed Linux operating system (also Windows XP compatible), it features flash drive data storage and fully supports wireless connectivity seamlessly.
Mr. Pornthep Watchara-amnouy, Managing Director of ASUSTeK Computer (Thailand) Co., Ltd., remarked on the “Eee PC” that: “We focus on of different base customers in mind, which are young people age between eight and eighteen years old and the ASUS ‘Eee PC’ will be their first computer; housewives and senior citizens
who enjoy surfing the internet as leisure.”
“We hope to sell 5,500 units of the ‘Eee PC’, which market value equivalent of 55 million baht, in the last two months of the year, November and December 2007, and we are confident that its specifications and functionalities will meet any needs of mobility usage at very reasonable prices,” Mr. Pronthep noted on its marketing goal.
“Additionally, ever since the introduction of the ‘Eee PC’ at the Computex show in Taiwan last June, we have largely received contract requests from several companies to start their campaigns and promotions for the product,” he added.
The “Eee PC” will be available in four versions including Eee PC 2G Surf, costs 8,490 baht; Eee PC 4G Surf, costs 10,900 baht; Eee PC 4G, costs 11,900 baht and; Eee PC 8G, costs 15,900 baht (all price tags are VAT-excluded) along with one-year local warranty.
