The Awakening in the Realm of Nightmares follows Emily's life after the ending of the first Anastasia book, where she is now the princess of Anastasia. Somewhat darker than the first book, the second book of the Anastasia series follows the life of the young Anastasian princess in the magical realm as she is suddenly plagued by horrific nightmares in a bizarre world. When the new Zycothian king, a handsome dark sorcerer, appears to her and reveals that he has also seen the terrifying dreams, they must overcome their differences with one another and ally together to battle the dream-weaver's nightmarish creation and free the many souls which the weaver has trapped in the horrific realm of nightmares, including the souls of Emily's parents.
