August 16, 2008 - Mr. Yuvaphol Pornprathanwech, Chairman of Advertising & Sign Producing Association (ASPA), revealed that at present the association, in addition to driving its members to expand business into new markets and create more business opportunities, urged its members to participate in the spectacular SIGN ASIA EXPO’08, which would be staged in this September. Such event was expected to boost sales volume of the signage industry, throughout the event, by 10% to more than 240 million baht, when compared to last year, from 4,000 million baht in total market value.
This SIGN ASIA EXPO’08, besides showcasing brand new innovations and state-of-the-art technologies from those related in the signage industry, invited international advertising and signage associations from the USA, India, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea and China, to take part in it. It also aimed to open a window of business opportunities for those related from other countries to learn and see a variety of cutting-edge products manufactured by Thai entrepreneurs, as well as to open the door for Thai proprietors to expand their business into new overseas markets.
A business expansion into foreign markets was clearly seen in an investment in Vietnam by close collaboration among Thailand’s 4-5 leading signage entrepreneurs whereas its further process and investment details were being co-studied with BOI. Initially, it was expected to lavish a sum of approximately 300 million baht for investment, with a payback within 2 years. The project would start around mid 2009.
“We have a plan to boost our signage business by urgently developing management policies in terms of finding our permanent office, providing liaison services to make the ministry’s rules in line with business, promoting coordination with the government sector, making trade arrangements among members, creating the association’s good image, driving ASPA to be a leading and well-known association in the regional and international levels, setting up a legal and engineering consulting team, proving benefits and privileges to members and organizing an institute for promoting professional careers that aims to develop personnel potentiality as the signage and advertising industries are now lacking a great number of experts and highly skilled personnel”, said Mr. Yuvaphol.
The said institute would take full responsibility for building personnel in various fields, including computer graphics, designs and photography, for the country’s adverting industry. The association now set up a group of subcommittees to study an operation plan and process in terms of education-programming institutes, locations and others, with a basic budget of 15 million baht as office construction and management expenses. The plan would commence around next April.
In addition, the association allocated a sum of 10 million baht to use for the association’s image creation and public relations by means of social marketing strategies, plus joint activities among 120 current members. They aimed to generate more unity and support in doing business, and help promote the government sector.
SIGN ASIA EXPO’08, held in conjunction with MEDIA ASIA EXPO’08, would be staged from September 25-28, 2008, 08.00-20.00 hrs. at Hall 2-3, Impact, Muang Thong Thani. For more information, please visit www.signasiaexpo.com.
