May 04, 2008 - Cape Coral, FL – As Seen On TV.Info, Inc. (ASOTVI) www.asotv.info today announced a Product Advisory regarding the use of the Hercules Hook (www.herculeshook.com) product.
The Hercules Hook is a curved piece of wire intended to be used to hang pictures or other wall hangings by means of manually piercing it through drywall into a hollow space behind the wall, leaving a hook exposed on the front surface for wall hangings. The product functions properly and safely when the space on the other side of the drywall has ample room for the product to swivel into position and is devoid of wall studs or insulation.
However, by virtue of its method and depth of installation, there also exists the possibility for this sharp piece of wire to accidentally pierce the shielding of any household electrical wiring, if present, which could potentially be hazardous. For safety sake, no one should ever penetrate a drywall wall with any piece of bare metal without knowing in advance that the point of penetration is clear of any electrical wiring on the other side.
ASOTVI recommends the use of an electronic stud-finder or other diagnostic piece of test equipment, specifically one designed to scan, locate and identify live electrical wires inside the walls prior to use of this type of wall-hanging product or any other product that deeply penetrates into walls. Such testing equipment can be found at most local hardware stores or major home improvement stores.
