Asia’s Outsourcing Growth Focus Of It Summit In Malaysia

International Association of Outsourcing Professionals' Chief to Speak about Asian Region’s Outsourcing Talent.

(1888PressRelease) May 21, 2008 - Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Asia’s growing role as a destination for global outsourcing talent will be the focus of presentations by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals at the 16th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2008) in Malaysia this week.

“From transaction processing through the most sophisticated analytics and research, global corporations are increasingly turning to Asia to find the talent they need to succeed, making Asia the centerpiece of a global business restructuring as profound as any in our history,” said IAOP Chairman Michael Corbett.

Corbett will participate in a panel discussion on “Asia – The Destination of Choice for Shared Services & Outsourcing” during the sold out premier global event on ICT policy and industry that more than 2,700 delegates are planning to attend.

Other panelists include Som Mittal, president, Nasscom; David Wong, chairman, PIKOM and Outsourcing Malaysia, and Group CEO, SNT Global; Dato’ Narayanan Kanan, senior vice president, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC); and other executives actively involved in outsourcing and shared services in the region.

Hosted by Outsourcing Malaysia, WCIT will be held May 18-22 in Kuala Lumpur. The showcase event of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) is held biennially.

IAOP’s Corbett also has been invited to meet exclusively with a select group of about 50 IT and communications technology senior executives from Malaysia to share his personal experience in the outsourcing industry.

“Malaysia has the opportunity to uniquely position itself as a destination of choice for outsourcing separate from China and India,” he said. “Meeting standards and gaining professional certification will be important for providers to ensure consistent high-quality results.”

Corbett also spoke about Malaysia’s emergence as an outsourcing hub this fall at a panel discussion in New York during a visit by a delegation from Malaysia’s Multimedia Development Corp. (MDeC).

IAOP’s newly formed Malaysia Chapter, MDeC and Outsourcing Malaysia have formed strong ties to advance outsourcing here. To signify the partnership, Corbett will join in a signing ceremony next week with Dato’ Badlisham Ghazali, chief executive, MDeC. The honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, will witness the ceremony.

IAOP has established an Asian advisory board and formed new chapters to meet the growing needs of outsourcing professionals in the region. The association has more than 5,000 members in Asia and chapters in Malaysia, Australia,
East China, Beijing, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
