June 22, 2009 - Pack up your Indiana Jones fantasies and learn about real cases in archaeology, locally and around the world, during Archaeology Days, an exciting three-day event to be held at Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site from July 10 – 12, 2009.
Archaeology Days is an extended summer program for learning and living archaeology. For three days, Philipse Manor Hall will be offering classes, workshops, lectures and films for both adults and children on various topics in archaeology taught by various historians, archaeologists and educators. From a hands-on children’s course explaining stratification by creating an “archaeology cake” to adult lectures on current events and local digs, you’ll find something that appeals to your curiosity whether you’re five or ninety-five, a novice or a natural-born explorer! Each class/lecture is $3, two classes purchased together are $5, and an all-access pass to Archaeology Days is $10.

Philipse Manor Hall, a high-style Georgian manor house, was the seat of a 52,000-acre estate and home to three generations of the Lords of Philipsburg Manor. Built between c. 1680 and 1755, it is the site around which the City of Yonkers grew and developed.
Philipse Manor Hall is located at 29 Warburton Avenue, at Dock Street, in Yonkers, and parking is available on site. The historic site is one of six state historic sites and 12 parks administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation – Taconic Region: www.nysparks.com.
