Artists Recording Collective (ARC) Grammy Award Entries include performances by historic figures and provide free listening opportunities for NARAS Voting Members to hear the music under consideration via easy to use hyperlinks.

(1888PressRelease) October 24, 2008 - Leavenworth, KS - Artists Recording Collective (ARC) is pleased to announce that ARC Grammy Award Entries by Sumi Tonooka, Gene Perla, Jeff "Siege" Siegel and George Kahn are now officially under consideration for Grammy Award Nomination. Voting by National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences members to select Grammy Award Nominations from among the official entry list concludes on November 5th. Again, please note – submission of entries is not a guarantee of getting in the nominating catalog, nor is it a guarantee of receiving a nomination. Additionally, ARC would like to invite any voting member of the NARAS to follow links to hear the music by Sumi Tonooka, Gene Perla, Jeff "Siege" Siegel and George Kahn for free, and then consider voting to nominate these releases.

Of particular note is the entry of the ARC label debut release, "Long Ago Today" by jazz pianist and composer, Sumi Tonooka. The ARC was formed on December 7, 2007 as a platform for artists to simply reach audiences using a record label model developed to meet the opportunities and challenges of the 21st Century music industry.

A mainstay on the national jazz radio charts upon release and subsequent weeks thereafter, "Long Ago Today" by Sumi Tonooka has enjoyed noteworthy critical acclaim as well.

"Her best to date, and a highly recommended recording, it seems Tonooka is still tapping potential while refining her search techniques on this very satisfying and enjoyable effort." (Michael G. Nastos - All Music Guide ****)

"Sumi Tonooka is a pianist from Philadelphia with some impressive credentials: she can recall playing with Philly Joe Jones and has counted upon the services of the redoubtable bassist Rufus Reid on each of her records. More important, she plays with a mature and entirely personal style that makes her a contender for the ranks of today's jazz piano elite." (Jeff Dayton-Johnson - All About Jazz)

"Her compositions are like the fourth player in the room; they veer into unusual patterns and give everyone something challenging. Tonooka tames them, though, making them sound flowing and of one piece." (Karl Stark - Philadelphia Inquirer)
