  • (1888PressRelease) October 16, 2014 - As Apple's Head of Higher-Ed in the UK and Head of Education in Asia, Alan Greenberg became a thought leader and a pioneer of the now thriving Ed-Tech industry. Greenberg will now use his expertise as the new Director at CareerFoundry, a mentored training platform for coding and design, to build a product that will enable school teachers to more effectively teach coding in the classroom.

"In the UK and worldwide there is an increasing demand for teachers to engage with digitally native students," Greenberg explains, "At Career Foundry we've developed a 'teach the teacher' product to support education's next language challenge: the language of code."

A Business Development and Marketing specialist, Greenberg headed up the EMEA Higher Education before moving on to becoming Apple's Head of Education in Asia. While with Apple, Greenberg developed the roll-out of iTunes Universities in Europe allowing teachers to give each class a customized learning experience through iTunes U on the iPad. Now working to change how coding is perceived and taught on a global scale, Greenberg has teamed up with Europe's #1 online training platform CareerFoundry to deliver this in-demand product.

"We've seen such a clear need for this. With governments saying every child needs to have a rudimentary understanding of code, schools are expected to implement this into their programs. However, finding school teachers who can code is a near impossibility, so creating a system to teach teachers to teach is a logical first step."
    Emil Lamprecht, CMO at CareerFoundry

With Greenberg's extensive experience and CareerFoundry's hand built LMS, the company has built a product to tackle the increasing global tech skills gap through the education of the next generation of programmers. But changing the way schools and teachers are educated is just the first step.

"CF are the first startup I've come across with the courage to truly embrace change in the learning of computing skills in schools, and to do so in such a fundamentally new and exciting way".
