Annual Polyacetals Consumption Is Forecast To Grow By An Average Of 5% In Europe And By A Total Of 6-7% Worldwide

The demand for polymers grows with the arrival of new polyacetal grades which unveil novice applications in many areas, including medicine, sanitary (resistance to detergents), automotive industry, and others.

(1888PressRelease) May 28, 2007 - The demand for polyacetals has been growing primarily in China.

Currently, the car industry consumes 40% of polyacetals, while 10 years ago there was no single application area which dominated polyacetals consumption. Other major application areas include consumer and office devices, as well as electric and electronic industries which account for one-quarters of polyacetal consumption. Thus, previously existing consumption sectors prevailed, while their shares changed.

The volume of the Russian polyacetal market will exceed 4 thousand tonnes in 2007.

Acetal polymers, also known as polyoxymethylene (POM) or polyacetal, are formaldehyde-based thermoplastics that have been commercially available for over 40 years. Acetal polymers have been particularly successful in replacing cast and stamped metal parts due to their excellent stiffness, resistance to friction and wear, durability. Designed by DuPont, polyacetal immediately found the application in engines and electrical goods.

Polyacetals are inherently self-lubricating. Their lubricity allows the incorporation of polyacetal in a variety of metal-to-polymer and polymer-to-polymer interface applications such as bearings, gears, and switch plungers. These properties have permitted the material to meet a wide range of market requirements.

They are efficiently substituting metals. Other applications are as follows: business m/c parts, small pressure vessels, aerosol valves, coil formers, clock and watch parts, nuclear engineering components, plumbing systems, shoe components, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM parts, windscreen wipers, zippers, speaker grids, gas meters parts, conveyer belts, coils for fibre, food industry equipment, faucets, ski fixtures, tennis racket parts, handles for furniture, cutlery.

The Polyacetals Market Research also features the following information:

Global polyacetal market state;
Producers of polyacetals;
Main polyacetal consumers;
To name only a few subjects.
