Boulder, CO (1888PressRelease) October 29, 2009 - The ENERGY STAR® New Home Bonanza, part of the Northern Colorado ENERGY STAR® Homes Program, will run from November 7-8th, 2009. Homes will be open between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. This fall event offers FREE tours of beautiful, comfortable and energy-efficient new homes in the Longmont, Colorado area.

A special “behind the drywall” tour that demonstrates the building sciences involved to create an energy-efficient home will be available to visitors during this weekend event. Please visit www.nocoenergystarhomes.org for details about this ENERGY STAR program.

ENERGY STAR qualified homes provide better comfort, lower energy bills, healthier indoor air and increased durability. These homes also help reduce air pollution.
Key features in ENERGY STAR qualified homes include more effectively installed insulation, high-performance windows, tight construction, tighter ductwork, efficient heating and cooling equipment, efficient appliances and third-party verification.

NoCO ENERGY STAR Homes is a regional program with a focus on high-performance construction—homes that perform better than conventionally built homes—and encourages consumers to look for the ENERGY STAR label. All of the 11 homes in the tour are ENERGY STAR qualified and will be marked with yard signs featuring the familiar blue ENERGY STAR logo.

NoCO ENERGY STAR Homes is a collaborative program among public and private-sector organizations, including the City of Fort Collins, Home Builders Association (HBA) of Northern Colorado, Governor’s Energy Office, Larimer County, City of Longmont, Poudre Valley REA, Platte River Power Authority, Town of Severance, United Power, Town of Windsor and Xcel Energy.

The regional program is aligned with the national ENERGY STAR New Homes Program (www.energystar.gov) managed by the U.S. EPA and the Colorado ENERGY STAR Homes Program (www.coloradoenergystarhomes.com) managed by the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office.
