June 08, 2007 - North Wildwood, NJ--Acts from across the country will be featured on the main stage of the 2007 Anglesea Blues Festival, held July 13-15 in North Wildwood, NJ. The festival will kick off at 5pm on Friday, July 13 with highly acclaimed South Jersey blues favorite Bluebone.
Following Bluebone, Roger "Hurricane" Wilson will headline the opening night of the Anglesea Blues Festival. Wilson, born in 1953, has been playing the blues since he was 9. He has 6 CD's on the market and continuously tours throughout the United States
The stage will sizzle on Saturday, with 14 year old blues prodigy Patrick Droney kicking off the day at 11:30am. Patrick Droney, of Linwood, NJ was awarded the Robert Johnson Star Recipient title in 2006 as the country's most promising blues musician. He has already played such prestigious venues as BB Kings , The Whiskey A-Go-Go, and House of Blues, and has opened for the legendary BB King himself .
Keeping the focus on rising stars of the Blues, Trampled Under Foot takes the stage direct from the great blues scene of Kansas City. The brother and sister trio of Trampled Under Foot has been touring the Mid-West and East coast for the past several years, and is making a return appearance at the Anglesea Blues Festival to high acclaim.
Headlining the Saturday night lineup will be Mighty Lester, an eight piece blues band that promises to bring down the house. Winner of the Blues Foundations best self-produced CD of 2007, and 3 rd out of 150 bands in the 2007 International Blues Challenge, Mighty Lester is sure to create an unforgettable experience at the Anglesea Blues Festival.
On Sunday, the festival will shift gears when Irving Street Blues opens for The Doc Marshalls, featuring Acadian Nick Beaudoing. The Doc Marshalls will bring their authentic mix of Zydeco and Cajun sounds to Anglesea. The Doc Marshalls have quickly forged a reputation for their wildly energetic live shows. Anchored by the fiddling wizardry of Mat Kane and the breakneck accompaniment of Beaudoing's Cajun accordion, their unique Louisiana grooves have infiltrated the halls of countless alternative rock venues where roots music is seldom heard. Whether performing Bakersfield-style shuffles or traditional Cajun French two-steps, they are determined to make converts of even the most shy souls.
The Anglesea Blues Festival is held at 2nd & Olde New Jersey Ave in North Wildwood, NJ, and occurs in conjunction with the New Jersey State Barbecue Championship. The Festival will be held Friday, July 13 5pm-11pm, Saturday July 14 10am-11pm, and Sunday, July 15 10am-6pm.
