December 01, 2007 - We have all heard the story. A young boy completely changes the world by doing simple favors for others. Now that seeming fairy tale is becoming a reality.
In the tale, the young boy does three favors for three perfect strangers. Rather than asking to be paid back, he asks that these strangers each pay the favor forward to three others. Three become nine. Nine become 27. 27 become 81. This continues until everyone in the entire world is lending a helping hand to one another.
‘I doubt very much that we will get the entire world involved,’ states Don McCauley, founder of the Heaven On Earth LifeStyle Partnership, ‘but we will change the lives of many people. There is nothing but good in this . . .’
The Heaven On Earth LifeStyle Partnership accepts no donations. There are no dues or fees of any kind. There are no formal membership requirements or procedures. There is no formal creed or belief structure. ‘We just believe in selfless service to others,’ states Mr. McCauley, ‘as helping another without thought of reward is the highest to which any of us can aspire.’
The program is extremely simple. Participants simply perform three favors without thought of reward. The recipient receives an official ‘pay it forward’ coupon and is asked to pay the favor forward to three others. Coupons are available at the group’s website.
‘This is a fantastic program for churches, groups and children’s projects,’ said Mr. McCauley, ‘One of our participants used this as a project for a Brownie troop she leads and the children just loved it. A program such as this can go a long way in regards to helping to develop the value structure of our young people.’
The group is seeking community liaisons for the Angels Anonymous Project program. This is an unpaid, volunteer position. Duties consist of simply making local communities and groups aware of the program through whatever methods the liaison might wish to use, be they formal or informal (subject to group approval). Liaisons report back to the group and local community results will be posted on the group’s website and newsletter.
