  • Gainesville, GA (1888PressRelease) June 06, 2014 - Holly Theater board chair Chris Andrus told fellow directors last week he will not seek re-election to the Holly Theater Community Center Board of Directors when his term expires at the end of this year.

Andrus' news comes as the Holly emerges successfully from a voluntary operations shut-down and reorganization, but it also shines a spotlight on reasons for community concern going forward for the 23-year-old nonprofit. "I'm proud of what we've been able to achieve at the Holly in a very short time," said Andrus, whose tenure began in 2012 as the community theater was forced to confront serious debt and management issues as well as waning community confidence in the organization's ability to fulfill its mission.

Since then, however, the Holly has pulled itself back together and now hopes to recruit all kinds of volunteers who can support various areas of the theater's operations and organizational structure, from changing the marquee to project management to board of director's leadership. The Holly urges volunteers with strong business leadership experience and project management skills to get involved.

This coming fall, four board seats will be up for election, including the one left vacant with Andrus' departure. Andrus will spend most of his energy for the remaining months of his term developing bench strength and leadership capacity in volunteer resources.
