July 25, 2007 - The Gender specific knee implant is attracting many young and middle aged American women to a South Indian hospital provding this operation at affordable costs.

Women like FS, constitute two third of patients needing a knee replacement. Earlier prostheses were designed from average measurments of men and women knees. The Gender special knee implant is based upon computational models of women's knees.
DR.Venkatachalam was one of the first Indian Orthopedic surgeons to pioneer this operation in India.
With the minimally invasive technique, lack of pain hastens the recovery process. Patients can now return to work faster.
