    AMAZONAS
The rich and colourful Amazonian culture; its free-flowing rivers, green forests, intertwining plants and exotic birds have inspired Amazonas to develop a line of flip flops with sustainability, comfort and design in mind. The brand's eco-friendly approach to fashion makes the product worthy to be associated with 'the lungs of the Earth', the Amazonas Rainforest. Not only are these flip flops made of recyclable, recycled and biodegradable rubbers that are good for the planet, but Amazonas also sources the raw materials from Amazonia's native rubber trees, providing employment for the nearby communities. Sustainable creativity is the main concept that defines the mission of Amazonas Sandals; the brand wanted to offer creative and fun designs but with little or no cost to the planet. The Amazonas flip flops are made of ecologically sustainable materials including rubber that was recycled from scrap materials such as tyres and shoe soles, as well as recyclable and biodegradable rubbers. The first biodegradable rubber was developed exclusively by Amazonas. This type of vulcanised biodegradable rubber is completely absorbed by the environment within 5 years and is broken down in a way that its carbons can be used again by living organisms. Synthetic rubbers can pollute the environment for up to 700 years after use. Visit www.amazonassandals.com.br

    SHOE DESIGN
The first collection is influenced by the art of the native tribes of the source of the Amazon River, the Marajo Islands. The Marajoaratribes settled in the area during the pre-colonial period, 400 - 1400 BC and they were known for their distinctive style of pottery making; their ceramics are still preserved in museums in Brazil and around the world including the American Museum of Natural History in New York. The colours used in the collection are in line with the trends of summer 2012 and the richness of the Amazonas Rainforest with vibrant bolds and shades full of life. Bright blues, greens, purples, yellows and pinks invade the catwalks and streets around the world celebrating joy and Brazilian lifestyle. The collection is divided into four product lines; Bio (biodegradable), Eco (recycled), Enjoy and Fun (expanded rubber), all of which include many different styles for men and women in bold colours featuring graphics and prints that represent the diversity of the Amazonas Rainforest.

    HISTORY
The Amazonas Group was founded in Franca, Brazil in 1947. They started with manufacturing vulcanized rubber heels and soles to compete with the same products imported from the United States. The company gained success quickly as their products were more economic, more durable and easily accessible to the public and The Amazonas Group started to grow. Currently, with approximately three thousand collaborators, the Amazonas Group is the biggest manufacturer of components for footwear, furniture and packaging in Brazil. Amazonas is the most well-known brand of soles and adhesives in Brazil and the second most recognised in the world. Its products are exported to all seven continents.
