August 31, 2007 - ALPass v2.74 is released and available for free download. ALPass is a secure web site login and password manager for Internet Explorer.
The new version of ALPass has been delayed several times with only private releases available to a few select individuals outside of ESTsoft, the manufacturer. A newly discovered security vulnerability that could allow a malicious ALPass Database file (*.apw) to crash ALPass or run arbitrary code pushed up the release date. ESTsoft encourages existing ALPass users to update to the latest version.
While no new features are in this release, Windows Vista and IE7 compatibility are complete. The 64-bit version of IE is not supported.
ALPass remembers and stores your web site logins and passwords in a secure encrypted database. Seamlessly integrating with Internet Explorer, ALPass automatically fills in login forms for you, eliminating typing and the need to remember numerous IDs and passwords. An added benefit from using ALPass is that your passwords are protected from malicious keyloggers that hackers use to steal personal information.
Ideal for shared computers, ALPass stores everyone's logins in their own personal encrypted database, so you can rest assured that your information is private and secure. And moving your login database to a new computer is easy with ALPass' import/export and backup wizard.
While some free password managers limit the number of users you can create, or the number of web sites you can store, ALPass lets you store unlimited web sites for unlimited users. As with all ALTools, ALPass has no limitations and never expires.
ALPass runs on Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista. It is free for home and commericial use.
