Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease)
February 06, 2008 - The Dallas Derby Devils proudly present the fourth travel team bout of the off season hosted on their own home turf Saturday, February, 9th. In bout one, the Dallas Derby Devils “All Star” travel team will go head to head with the “Killbillies” from the Northwest Arkansas Rollergirls. The newest team residing under the Dallas Derby Devils reign, the “Death Row Rumblers” will fight to the death against another new team, the Northwest Arkansas “Backwoods Betties” in bout two. Last month, the DDD traveling team was unable to bring home a victory against the Charm City Rollergirls of Baltimore, Maryland. Will the lessons that DDD learned north of the Red River help them defeat NWA?
This is your chance to see the action first hand and find out the Devils fate. The competition will take place at Forum Rollerworld (1900 Great Southwest Parkway, Grand Prairie). Call (972) 641-0661 for directions, or visit www.forumrollerworld.com for more information. Doors open at 7:30pm and the action will start at 8:00pm. During the half, musical entertainment will be provided by local favorites, the Murgatroyds. The Devils expect another capacity crowd. This bout will sell-out, so get your tickets to this PG-13 event in advance for only $12 on our website through Pay-Pal at www.derbydevils.com. If available, tickets at the door will be $15. With the weather is cooling down, the Devils ask that you bring an adult coat or other warm clothing item to benefit the Dallas Day Resource Center. Kids 12 and under are free. As usual, feel free to BYOB, but no glass containers are allowed.
For this bout, the Devils chose the Dallas Day Resource Center as their spotlight charity. The center offers a wide range of services to the homeless including information and referral, employment and housing assistance, shower and laundry facilities, limited medical services, and a variety of social services designed to assist the homeless in the return to a stable lifestyle. On-site agencies include Dallas County MHMR, Community Outreach Coalition, and the Veterans Administration. In addition, the Compensated Work Therapy Program provides the adult homeless, unemployed, non-veteran substance abuser the opportunity to receive a weekly paycheck while obtaining chemical dependency counseling, job readiness training, and employment and housing referral. We ask that you please bring a coat or warm clothing to donate for this worthy cause.
In upcoming events, the Dallas Derby Devils present an evening of art, photography, and your favorite derby girls on March 29th at the Continental Lofts Gallery. The annual gallery show will feature original works of art by skaters and friends of DDD, as well as hundreds of amazing action shots from the 2007 season games. All will be up for auction, so don’t miss your chance to own a piece of derby history. Saturday, March 29th at 7:00PM, Continental Lofts Gallery, 3311 Elm Street, Dallas, Texas.
When not at practice, the Devils continue the business of promoting and growing the league across North Texas. Clearly, DDD discovered a formula for success and are becoming stronger every season, heading into their fourth year of existence. The league is one of the largest of its kind, boasting the biggest roster of active skaters in the south. Volunteers are welcome. Referees, stats, security, and production helpers are a just few of the open positions. The league’s sponsorship drive remains underway to defray the league’s operating costs. Sponsors get bragging rights about being part of the derby revival at a ground level as they help the Dallas Derby Devils support worthy causes; a portion of all proceeds are donated to local charities.
