  • Cleveland-Lorain-Elyria, OH (1888PressRelease) February 24, 2011 - Dr. Alexis Lieser is joining CAL/ACEP as an Advocacy Fellow. Dr. Lieser is a native California resident who grew up in a small logging town of 2,000 people in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. She became interested in political issues when, as a child, she witnessed the rewards to her community and family after her mother invested time and effort into local political issues.

    Dr. Lieser has stated that she feels it is important to "work with legislators to help them understand what we (Emergency Physicians) do on a daily basis and why we are an essential public service for every community." Dr. Lieser hopes to provide research to strengthen the position of EM, including emergency psychiatric services and the development of ACOs (Accountable Health Organizations) as part of health care reform.

    Dr. Lieser earned her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine, and completed her EM Residency at UC Irvine.
