December 16, 2006 - Alabama native Maurice Sims and 27 Wayz Entertainment
is committed to producing live events for people of
all walks of life but with a twist! His unique fusion
of diverse forms comedy and music, is unlike any other
event you have might have attended before. He recently introduced The Atlanta Comedy Experience to the good folks of Georgia that was well received. This monthly event series provides a stage for professional as well as up and coming comedic and musical artists to share their talent with the people of the America.
This extremely entertaining event is not a talent show or karaoke! "We approach only the very best talent and allow only gifted individuals to
grace our stage" states Sims. "We truly feel that each and every artist performing at our events are tomorrow's star that you can see today." His line up has opened up for well known heavyweights in the comedy industry such as Dave Chappelle, Jeff Foxworthy, Steve Harvey, Ron White and a list too long to mention.
The dream of entertaining people has been a vision of Sims since the third grade. Sims started writing jokes in 1995 "but never had the courage to get on stage to share his thoughts with the rest of the world." After years of hard work and managing various retail establishments he boldly branched out and started executive producing his own shows in late 2004. "I had a vision, developed a game plan, and just did it." I pretty much perfected my craft through trial and error.
Mr. Sims primarily scouts his talent from the current mecca of entertainment, the city of Atlanta where he currently resides, thus the name. "I am out there hitting the pavement with my eyes and ears to the streets nightly." "If a venue has comedy or open microphone of any form going on, I will be right there trying to uncover those rare but hidden jewels." This job requires late hours and requires effective networking skills which has provided Sims the opportunity to work with a few artist that are on their way to the top in the entertainment industry.
In addition to showcasing extremely funny comedians, his shows has featured the musicians of all types of genres'. He has featured the smoothed out sounds of newly signed Universal Records recording artist Salakida of Stone Mecca, Houston's neo-soul artist Shaleyah Rare and Los Angeles vocalist Keni Myles.
The energetic producer is a firm believer of promoting and providing diverse entertainment for all races, in a intimate setting, and for a reasonable price of only $10 that he also shares with the artist and covers all operating expenses to travel to various cities around the country. "I feel the price point has to be affordable for the entire community, reflect the current economy and hopefully this will make attending the show attainable for all.
Sims and company will be giving the folks of Central Alabama and surrounding counties a huge Valentines Day gift on Wednesday February 14 2006 at The Performing Arts Center in downtown Selma. "The Experience movement is my way of giving the singles and couples of the area something fun, safe, and different to do with their love ones before on this special day.
This show will be headlined by comedian Julian Haynes and also features a bonus musical performance by New Orlean Kelly Love Jones. Julians comedy speaks for itself states Sims. His comedy style is almost indescribable. He lives on stage. He is a fearless performer and is considered to be one best comics in the game by his peers and audience members alike. Mr. Haynes comedy is a parody of stand-up comedy as a whole. He doesn't relate to the crowd but brings a crowd into his world through a ludicrous stage presence and subliminal jokes. It's like you're laughing at him and with him at the same time. It's sheer genius!
New Orleans native Kelly Love Jones is the truth and breathes new life in the music industry. "Kelly has her own style and I had to work with her once I saw her perform in Atlanta 2 years ago." "In my eyes she is a combination on Lauren Hill, Sade, Tracy Chapman and Allanis Morisste," but still has her own unique style.
Also performing on this show will comics Karlous Miller, Clyde Gordon, and Byron Bowers.
