Unlike traditional patient lifts, no special levelers, stretcher slings, or other apparatus is needed with the AirPal System for horizontal transfer.

(1888PressRelease) October 31, 2009 - Center Valley, PA - AirPalŪ-Patient Transfer Systems, Inc. has created a new section on its website to house data sheets in one easily accessible location. All of the company's data sheets are available in .pdf file format and are accessible via the main menu at the company's website.

Regarding the recent updates to the website, Jim Weedling, AirPal's President said, "We have embarked on a mission to make all of our materials more accessible, interactive, and pertinent to the needs of our existing and future customers." Jim went on to say, "AirPal has a vision for its website where it is a destination for training, support, and most importantly education... not just for promotion of our products, but for the promotion of Safe Practices for Patient Handling." Not surprisingly, AirPal's catchphrase is "Best Choice for Best Practice."

AirPal-PTS, Inc. pioneered air assisted lateral patient transfer, bringing the first commercially available system to market in 1984. The AirPalŪ Platform Patient Transfer System was specifically designed to address the high incidence of injuries resulting from patient handling. The System is compatible with "Safe Patient Handling Programs" and no-lift work environments. Operation is simple and straight forward and especially suited to Special Populations, such as burn victims, patients with open wounds, and patients undergoing bariatric treatment, since the forces that act against a patient during transfer are largely eliminated by AirPal's System. Additionally, special medical fabrics used in the construction of the Systems assist in the care of skin by conforming to pressure management surfaces, and provide special characteristics for stretch and cushioning.

No hoists or heavy mechanical apparatus are needed for horizontal patient transfer with the AirPalŪ System. Unlike traditional patient lifts that require special attachments and apparatus for horizontal patient transfer; the device that AirPalŪ pioneered and brought to market has an underside that is perforated for air release. The device is attached to an air supply which forces a constant flow of high volume/low pressure air which causes the device to inflate a semi-rigid surface (or 'platform') for patient transfers or positioning. Upon inflation, air escapes out through the perforations on the bottom of the device. A frictionless surface, literally a "cushion" of air, is formed upon which the patient is moved in comfort and almost effortlessly.

A typical AirPalŪ Platform Patient Transfer System consists of the Inflatable Patient Transfer Pad and AirPal'sŪ compact Air Supply and Hose (AirPalŪ also includes a reusable protective liner with every system it sells). An optional accessory is the AirPal Stand; a storage and mobility solution. AirPalŪ Platform Patient Transfer Systems are available in a variety of widths, to accommodate patients of different sizes. Several configurations are available and are distinguished by two available patient surfaces as well as specialty systems for specific applications like trauma. Versions of AirPal'sŪ Systems are also available in half lengths that facilitate positioning requirements encountered in urology, obstetrics, and etc. AirPal'sŪ latest innovation, the RAMPŪ System (Rapid Airway Management Positioner) builds upon AirPal's focus on air assisted medical technologies and integrates an air controlled patient positioning system for airway management with the transfer capability of the AirPalŪ Platform Patient Transfer System. Data sheets for all of the products mentioned here can now be found in one easily accessible location at the company's website.
