March 12, 2008 - Ventura CA, – Airhead Parts ( http://www.airheadparts.com ), the leading supplier of restoration parts for vintage Volkswagens (VW Bug / Beetle, Bus / Vanagon and Karmann Ghia) announced today that the 10th annual Treffen Vintage VW car show ( http://www.airheadparts.com/cruise.html ) will be held this year at the Ventura Harbor Marina on Spinnaker Dr in Ventura California. The show has been moved from its usual May date to Saturday April 12 from 7am to 3pm. The Vintage VW Cruise ( http://www.airheadparts.com/cruise.html ) will be leaving Ventura at 10am on April 7th, the Monday before.
Besides driving California’s beautiful and historic Hwy 1, activities include tours of the Santa Barbara Mission, Group Drive down Pismo Beach, Morro Bay Beach Party, Monterey Aquarium, Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Blackhawk Vintage car museum, tour and tasting at Cline Cellars, a Napa/Sonoma Winery, Golden Gate Bridge, Hearst Castle, James Dean Memorial and more.
“This tour was designed not as just a car rally/cruise, but as a vacation and celebration of both my home state of California and the iconic VW that was so much a part of people’s lives in the 1960s, 70s and 80s”, stated Scott Dempster, CEO of KGPR Inc. Parent Company of Airhead Parts. “The previous big cruise I put together was the Herbie and Friends Cruise across America. This was a promotion for the Walt Disney feature film Herbie: Fully Loaded, Staring Lindsey Lohan and Michael Keaton. We become involved when Disney contacted Airhead
Parts to supply a majority of the parts for the restoration of the movie’s 21 Herbie Love Bugs.
The cooperation grew from there into a three week long cruise that circled American in 2005 and included not only Herbie, but hundreds of vintage VWs enthusiasts joining us along the way”, said Dempster, adding, “This upcoming cruise is a week long vacation like event in a big caravan of VWs. If you have never cruised with a group like this, you don’t know what you’re missing. I encourage everyone with an air cooled VW or Vanagon to join us for an hour, or a day, or the whole week. The Cruise official ends the night before the Car Show at a Barbeque and Open house at Airhead Parts from 3pm to 8pm on Friday April 11th.
