October 01, 2009 - Children with special needs face a variety of unique challenges as they grow and become members of the community. Because of this, parents of children with special needs should begin engaging in special needs planning as soon as possible. Planning for a future in which parents are no longer able to be primary caregivers will help ensure a child will be well cared for and live a productive, fulfilling life. Special needs planning will also benefit any siblings of a child with special needs who may at some point become involved in his or her care.
As a special needs attorney, Ms. Arkontaky understands the services that parents and family members provide for a child with special needs. This includes being an advocate, companion, job or career coach, chauffeur, money manager, social and recreational director, and guardian. Ms. Arkontaky provides advice and counsel to clients on the best plan for each situation, promoting independence and enhanced quality of life for both children and parents.
