Ms. Wang was told by her representative that the Compton City's officials welcome her with open arms to represent Chinese-Americans across the nation to celebrate the city's most exciting annual event. This will be Linda's first appearance on a float.
"At first when my agent informed me about the invitation, I was so surprised the City of Compton chose me to represent Chinese-Americans, across the nation. It seems someone noticed me, one of the relatively few Asian faces around, volunteering for years at the homeless shelter downtown. I am a proud American from a middle-class immigrant family in Queens, New York. America, the land of opportunities, had giving all of us so much hope and many dreams. I just wanted to give back a bit of my time and much love. Our country is rapidly changing, I just want to promote and celebrate diversity. Solidarity is the key to harmony for all of us." says Ms. Wang.
