August 25, 2009 - Jamia Nash plays Ana Hamilton on "The Young and the Restless," and she recently showed off her singing talent at the 80th Annual Academy Awards. Now the 13-year-old is singing for charity.
Nash talked about the Love. Hugs. Peace Movement, sponsored by Build-A-Bear Workshop, in an interview with TheCelebrityCafe.com."Love. Hugs. Peace is to show an act of kindness," Nash said.
At the Build-A-Bear Workshop website, people can make pledges to needy children. Nash has also helped to raise over $120,000 for their sister charity, Save the Children.Part of her contribution to the effort is her take on "Talk About Love," which has become the charity's theme song.
"The song speaks about what the world needs and what the individual needs," Nash said. "People can relate to this song."Anyone who donates a dollar to Save the Children receives a free download of "Talk About Love."Nash is the youngest African American to perform at the Oscars, and her voice caught the world's attention. Although Nash loves acting on "The Young and the Restless," she confessed that singing is her ultimate passion.
"I believe that I was born to sing," she said. It seems that it's her coworkers that make her acting job so enjoyable, as Nash expressed her appreciation for the older cast members. "I am proud to be on the longest and most successful show running. The cast is great. The directors are too."The young actress is appreciated by her biggest fan, her grandma, who loves the show.
"It's fun telling her what happens and what is going on," said Nash.Jamia Nash's interview can be found at TheCelebrityCafe.com.
