ACT Global Sports Gets Greener Leading Artificial Turf Corporation Launches Comprehensive Carbon-Neutral Program

ACT Global Sports announced today a comprehensive program to address global warming. Its offices have become carbon-neutral through ACT Global’s investment in reforestation projects around the world.

(1888PressRelease) December 16, 2008 - The donations in certified reforestation projects in the U.S., Nicaragua and China will help offset the carbon footprint of ACT Global’s administrative offices.

In addition, ACT Global has implemented a voluntary program whereby customers can purchase carbon credits to offset the related production, transportation and installation activities. The Xtreme Turf and ACTurf systems of ACT Global have many uses in the areas of sports fields, landscaping, parks, playgrounds and lawns.

John Baize, Director of ACT Global, comments, “Climate change due to carbon dioxide emissions is a problem all citizens of the world share. We are pleased to be a small part of the solution by developing environmentally friendly technologies and investing in reforestation.” Scientists estimate that deforestation may cause 25% of climate change and by making donations in certified reforestation projects, ACT Global can promote a carbon offset method where carbon dioxide is actually removed from the atmosphere. In addition, the industry promotes environmental benefits such as eliminating the use of pesticides to the millions of gallons of water that is saved per year throughout the world.

Act Global Sports has a history of environmental stewardship. As a member of the United Nations Global Compact and the U.S. Greenscapes program, it highly encourages greater environmental responsibility. Its main production location also holds an ISO 14001 environmental management certification and ACT Global was recently featured in the ISO magazine.
