ACS Scholarship Program: Extending Its Commitment to Nation-Building

Advanced Contact Solutions Inc. launches scholarship program to aid underpriviledged but deserving students inside and outside of the company.

(1888PressRelease) July 01, 2009 - Advanced Contact Solutions, Inc., (ACS) a pioneer and leader in Philippine Call Center Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), has always prided itself of valuing its people who make the difference. Taking the commitment to a whole new level, the ACS Scholarship Program, one of the first of its kind in the call center industry, was launched to provide assistance to the underprivileged but deserving students within and outside the company.

“ACS Scholarship Program is the greatest achievement I ever had!”, Ralph Sherwin A. Corpuz shared. “Rap”, a Customer Service Associate of ACS, was able to complete his degree in education last October 2008. He has been very grateful to ACS for giving him the opportunity to earn his degree without giving up his work. To date, ACS extended Ralph's scholarship to support him for his Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET) review.

Rap is just one of the 53 scholars ACS supports since the program’s foundation. On its first batch on 2008, 41 scholars have been awarded chosen on the basis of academic excellence, exemplified leadership and good moral character. The ACS Scholars are free to decide as to what school or university they want to study in as well as their course. They just have to maintain the program requirements. This includes an average grade no lower than 85%, no disciplinary cases and internship at ACS. All aspirants underwent the three-fold screening process, the panel interview with the Paxys Management Committee being its last stage.

Another batch of scholarship grants were awarded last May 2009 to nine scholars, 7 of which were incoming college students and 2 are ACS employees. An intimate awarding ceremony, graced by the ACS Management Committee and Paxys Inc. Chairman, Tarcisio M. Medalla, was held at the Filipinas Heritage Library.

Despite the global financial crisis, ACS continuously fulfills its commitment to nation building by developing future leaders of the country. Other than financial assistance, ACS also provides leadership development trainings during the summer to its scholars. Recently, two scholars, Chrizaldy Neil Mañibo, BS Physics and BS Chemical Engineering from Ateneo De Manila University and John Michael Reyes, BS Electronics and Communications Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology, from the first batch, were sent to Russia by ACS to represent the Philippines for the Measat-3a Launch, a convention of international Engineering students.

The ACS Scholarship Program has really come a long way since 2008. Fulfilling ACS' promise of career growth and opportunities to its people, the ACS Scholarship Program has received full support from both ACS Management Committee and Paxys, Inc.. Since then, it has been the main thrust of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility.
