November 24, 2008 - ACR38 has obtained FIPS 201 Certification
The approval of the ACR38, categorized under Transparent Reader, by the US Government through the FIPS 201 Evaluation Program allows the ACR38 to be used by the Unites States Federal Agencies in their smart card applications such as physical access, network access and other authentication solutions.
The FIPS 201 certification is a requirement of GSA (Government Services Administration) for devices used in a smart card solution to ensure government-wide interoperability. Aside from this, the certification proves the quality, durability, speed, and reliability of smart card readers. ACS has supplied over one million ACR38 smart card readers to the world market in 2008 with the biggest percentage shipped to Europe. The certification against FIPS standard is expected to help ACS serve better the USA market. Other ACS smart card readers will also be submitted for FIPS 201 certification representing ACS’s drive to further grow in the big and potential market of the United States.
