November 13, 2007 - Unsolicited material, alias Spam, is a constant source of annoyance to users. With spam methods getting more aggressive and “intelligent”, websites are having a tough fight against it. It is hence necessary to always improve on spam filters and spam detection methods.
“Our initial spam filter is just adequate; hence we have been collecting feedback from our users, as well as monitoring the amount of spam hitting at our site,” says Chief of Operations, Mr. Tang Chin Yong. “Therefore, our engineers got right into developing a more stringent and robust spam combat system; we want our users to have as smooth an advertising experience as possible.”
Essentially, the spam filter does not require any action from users. This new spam filter will intelligently determine messages as spam by criteria such as messages from users that were blocked, restricted words found in a message and messages sent from usernames previously identified as spammers.
“With this newly developed spam filter, we are confident that we have brought spam combat up another notch, and that our users will not login to their account and find their PM box full of spam,” states Mr. Tang.
