February 22, 2008 - A global SIM card allows business travellers and holiday makers the ability to avoid roaming charges and receive calls for free when travelling abroad. Travellers can significantly reduce the cost of making and receiving calls by replacing their regular mobile phone SIM or Chip, with a “Global SIM Card”.
Late in 2008 a number of global SIM card suppliers suffered a catastrophic loss of service when their service provider got into financial difficulties and suspended its service. This left tens of thousands of travellers without the use of their Global SIM cards.
Ed Neal, Managing Director of Geodesa limited, who distributes the GeoSIM global SIM card, estimates that in excess of 50 thousand users will have their SIM permanently disabled within the next month or two.
Ed says “Many users that have been abandoned, or orphaned, want to use their SIM again, but will be unable to because their supplier has either gone bankrupt, or is simply not supporting their SIM card any longer. Some users will have seen their SIM come back to life, but this is only temporary. Unless their respective supplier has contacted them telling them that their SIM will be permanently reactivated, users will lose their number and the use of their SIM permanently.”
GeoSIM is offering a lifeline to orphaned users who want to keep their number and have their SIM permanently reactivated under its “SIM adoption” program at www.adoptsim.com
For a small admin fee, users can “port” or transfer their SIM on to the GeoSIM system, keeping their phone number and have the peace of mind that heir SIM will not be permanently deactivated in March 2008. Users who transfer their SIM will benefit from all the features existing GeoSIM currently customers enjoy.
GeoSIM adoption program can be found at www.adoptsim.com
