February 10, 2007 - February 9, 2007 - “Undoubtedly we have all known someone who has battled cancer. Poignant accounts of those who won the fight inspire us and harrowing stories of those who succumbed compel us to continue to search for a cure. For me, these tales did not hit home until a family member was stricken with kidney cancer.
Thereafter, everyday it seemed I heard of another tragic report of people of all ages afflicted with one of the various forms of cancer and in a battle for their life. I knew I had to do something to help in their fight, but what? What can I really do? I could hike. I decided I would hike the Appalachian Trail, some 2,170 miles all told, and raise money for cancer research. The fundamental concept of hiking is putting one foot in front of the other and eventually you will reach the mountaintop. In my mind, this notion correlates well to those battling cancer. Everyday is a blessing and any progress is a success. I hope to begin this journey in April 2007 and end it in August 2007.
Completing this endeavor is something I must do and I hope that you will be on the voyage with me. One out of every three women and one out of every two men will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime, so the likelihood that cancer will touch your family in some capacity is inevitable.
Let’s decrease those statistics. Any donation that you make will go in full to the American Cancer Society. Please join me in this hike for cure.”

I took it upon myself to create HIKINGFORACURE.COM. Working a full time job and not having the ability to take off from April to August, pushed me to think of a way I could help support my friend. I have a vision for the website. I would like to give people the ability to go on this journey with Aaron even if they can’t physically be there. So come and join the fight!
Thanks in advance for your time,
Sincerely,
Paul Zippel
