San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease)
November 04, 2007 - For health care organizations working towards HIPAA compliance, there is a new source of easy to access information.
The web site http://www.document-shredding.org, and online resource for document destruction and related services has added a comprehensive new resource for HIPAA compliance information.
"Health care companies are always in major need of document shredding and data security solutions. Since we are in that industry, we thought it made sense to research and include some resources that could benefit these companies" says Glen Johnson, an editor at the site.
"We basically had an editor scour the internet for the best HIPAA resources, and list links to the major web sites and resources for compliance."
HIPAA (U.S. Public Law 104-191) is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
One of the main reasons Congress passed the Act was to increase the standards of management of private data in the health care industry.
The new part of the document-shredding.org site has links and descriptions to dozens of HIPAA related resources including:
* The HIPAA act
* The HIPAA electronic data interchange
* HIPAA laws
* HIPAA regulations
* HIPAA privacy manuals
* HIPAA medical billing software
* HIPAA training
* HIPAA consultants
"The volume of information about HIPAA act is truly enormous. The act provides guidelines but compliance requires a lot more than just reading the text of the bill. There are thousands of web pages devoted to this topic. What we've tried to do is search out links to the top HIPAA resources and put them in one convenient place on our site."
Currently there are over 60 links and descriptions to HIPAA related sites, with more being added regularly.
