A New Version of G.728 Vocoder from GAO Research

GAO Research Inc. (www.GAOResearch.com) has enhanced its G.728 vocoder for better performance.

(1888PressRelease) April 29, 2009 - The vocoder implements the low delay code-excited linear prediction (LD-CELP) speech compression technique specified in the ITU-T standard and provides approximately 4kHz speech bandwidth.

The software encodes 5 sample frames of 16-bit linear PCM data into 10-bit code words and employs backward-adaptive linear predictive coding analysis to achieve a low transcoding delay. The ITU-T G.728 standard specifies the encoding of 8kHz sampled speech signals for transmission over a 16kbps channel.

It uses backward adaptation of predictors and gains to achieve an algorithmic delay of 0.625ms. This software is well-suited for applications including digital circuit multiplication equipment, videoconferencing, digital telephony, and multimedia products.
