April 17, 2009 - Cary, N. C. Al Basilico, CEO for A-B-Sea Research, made successful marketing and capital market connections at the RTP Innovation Angel Capital Exchange, held at the BNC Center in Cary on Wednesday.
“The attendees at the event had very valuable insights and networking connections for me yesterday,” said Basilico. “I especially enjoyed meeting Bill Greuling, the Operations Manager for the North Carolina Military Business Center, and getting his insights on how A-B-Sea's products and technology matches the needs US military forces, especially those units based in North Carolina.”
Greuling is based in Fayetteville, N. C. with the mission of connecting North Carolina’s small business community to the military supply chain. The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) is a business development organization and a collaborative effort between North Carolina business and the North Carolina Community College System. Funded in 2004 by the North Carolina General Assembly and opened in 2005, the NCMBC operates under the supervision of Fayetteville Technical Community College and has offices at eleven Community Colleges across the state. http://ncmbc.us/
“The networking connections for small technology companies, like A-B-Sea Research, made at these open angel forums are invaluable for their future success,” said Tom Vass, the organizer of the angel event. In addition to their main focus of raising growth capital, the events serve as a networking platform to increase regional supply chain transactions among small companies who may not otherwise find a marketing channel into the larger global supply chains, such as the military market.
A-B-Sea Research needs a capital infusion to finish work on the navigation prototype and conduct final technology verification before market launch of the product. “We have partnering interest for our product from major defense contracting companies,” said Basilico. “We just need a modest amount of capital to finish the final product innovation work.”
The RTP Angel Capital Exchange is an open business network that provides both existing companies and new ventures a platform for describing their growth plans. The Angel Capital Exchange is one part of 3 other technology innovation business networks in the RTP that work together to increase the rate of technology innovation and deal flow in the regional economy.
The monthly event is held at the BNC Center in Cary, and begins at 4:30. There is a $10 fee at the door to attend. Pre-registration is available at MeetUp.com.
