Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease)
May 14, 2008 - 850 The Buzz (WRBZ) and 620 The Bull – ESPN Radio (WDNC), the Triangle’s leading sports-talk radio stations, announced today that they are making a donation of $75,000 in airtime to promote the numerous positive, success stories within the Raleigh-Durham market and surrounding areas.
The success stories will be featured in sixty second vignettes, voiced by area chamber presidents. The messages will begin airing immediately on both WRBZ and WDNC.
“There are far too many positive things happening in our community and at times, the success seems to be over shadowed by stories that are less than favorable about the economy,” stated WRBZ/WDNC General Manager, Brian Maloney. “By spreading positive news about the strong, vibrate market we have here in the Triangle through this donation of airtime, we hope, not only to set an example for other local media, but to also promote the success happening all around us.”
Harvey Schmitt, President of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce went on to say, “We want the public to know about the positive things happening within our economy and we are lucky to have the Triangle’s leading sports-talk radio stations putting that message out there. We really appreciate the support and generous donation of airtime from 850 The Buzz and 620 The Bull in helping us build a better community and a more positive public outlook.”
In addition to the daily vignettes airing on WRBZ & WDNC, the radio stations have also designated their daily 9:00 AM news & sportscast program as the “Good News Newscast,” featuring only positive stories.
