June 22, 2009 - AD-Village CEO Marissa Louie will be honorably accepting the nomination of the 40 Under 40 Award from NLC Chairman and Founding CEO of Air America, Mark Walsh, at Orson Restaurant on Tuesday.
She will be making a speech in front of a crowd of distinguished guests including The New Leaders Council and San Francisco Treasurer Jose Cisneros. The annual "40 Under 40" awards celebrate and recognize emerging progressive leaders in the community making a difference. This year, NLC received over 300 nominations.
The 40 winners were chosen for displaying an extraordinary ability to create progressive change in an innovative and thoughtful manner across a wide variety of sectors as well as their representation of the young progressive network. NLC sought leaders from the labor, women’s rights, renewable energy, education, environmental protection, LGBT, health care, immigration, and working families movements to be honored by the 40 Under 40 Awards.
Marissa Louie, the 25 year old CEO and Co-founder of AD-Village.com, carefully planned her path towards entrepreneurship and political involvement since she was young. AD-Village is the leading provider of mobile and internet advertising. Its suite of products includes SMS text message delivery, mobile short code marketing campaigns, mobile image ads and coupons, a self-serve ad platform cross mobile and web, custom ad creation, and consulting services. Marissa was recently welcomed to the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army, Golden State Division.
She also serves as an advisor to the full San Francisco Board of Supervisors through the Transportation Authority's Geary Bus Rapid Transit Citizens Advisory Committee.
Marissa counts Bert Decker, Chairman of The Salvation Army Advisory Board, and Marc Benioff, Chairman and CEO of Salesforce.com, amongst her mentors. After her younger sister Lauren Louie passed away in a car accident in 2007, she left a successful career at Deloitte Consulting and entered the entrepreneurial arena. Her life goal is to improve technology education, biotechnology, and lifesciences for the greater good of society. She enjoys rock concerts, water sports, and community volunteering during her offtime.
"In this particular economy and digital age, we have a better chance of achieving success thanks to more affordable and more accessible resources. Young entrepreneurs are in a position of power to make more of a positive impact than ever - I challenge you to take the reigns," says Marissa. During her acceptance speech, she wants to inspire young entrepreneurs to achieve success in order to improve the lives of those in need. She will share about the Intentional Congruency she has created amongst her involvement in AD-Village, politics, and nonprofit work.
