2nd Edition of AMTEX 2017, Mumbai kick-started with the top industry leaders of machine tool industry under one umbrella
AMTEX 2017, the 2nd edition of the machine tools exhibition of global standards in Mumbai, commenced at the Bombay Exhibition Center, Goregaon (East) showcasing a wide array of machine tools, machineries and allied products.
- (1888PressRelease) April 14, 2017 - Mumbai : The premium machine tool event, which has attracted global participants from countries such as China, Japan and Taiwan, will provide international players an opportunity to tap the production and consumption hot spots of Western India.
The event could see the presence of nearly 150 exhibitors, who is displaying the latest technological innovations of the machine tool industry including over 40 international exhibitors. The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Cyril Pereira, Managing Director, Reed Triune Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Chandrakant Salunkhe, President of SME Chamber of India, Mumbai was also present. Various trade bodies and international leaders also graced the inauguration.
The Indian machine tools industry is today valued at $1 billion, just a fraction of the value of the global market at $84 billion. Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers Association (IMTMA) said the Union Budget 2017 will expand the growth of the machine tool industry in India. While India stands 13th in production of machine tools in the world, it still imports 58% of the machine tools for domestic consumption. Machine tools production in India increased to INR 4727 crore during 2015-16 from INR 4230 crore in 2014-15, registering a 12% growth. According to Frost & Sullivan, the demand for machine tools is set to see a 15% growth in 2017 and India is set to become a key player in the global machine tools industry with substantial investments in high-end machine tool manufacturing.
The 2nd edition of AMTEX in Mumbai is an opportunity for exhibitors bringing together business opportunities, world-class technologies and participants from across the globe to explore the potential of the machine tool sector in the western region. Out of the 1,000 companies in the machine tools sector, 400 are Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Maharashtra, with a large base of OEMs, is one of the largest consumption centers of machine tools in India. AMTEX 2017 provides a platform for global players to help tap these consumption and production hot spots of Western India. In order to help nurture the machine tools industry in India, AMTEX 2017 is the first expo to feature the Business Matchmaking Program, where participants and visitors can get together and discuss business prospects.
Mr. Cyril Pereira, Managing Director, Reed Triune Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd, said, "The machine tools industry is key to the government's flagship programs Make In India & Skill India and Maharashtra has been at the driver's seat thanks to its good infrastructure, the presence of a large number of small and medium industries and the availability of skilled talent. Rising automation too poses its own set of challenges, not to mention government policies like demonetization. While the government of Maharashtra has initiated the Make In Maharashtra campaign, they also need to focus on simplifying processes for starting businesses, provide a finishing school for students and reward import substitution efforts to help boost industrial growth in the machine tools sector."
