December 21, 2008 - The end of 2008 saw two new websites in the 001 stable as RSS 001 and DoFollow 001 were launched.
DoFollow 001 is a directory for blogs and websites that are part of the “dofollow” community, while RSS 001 is the world's first semantic feed directory. Both websites have blogs attached to the parent site.
Andy Walpole, owner, designer and maintainer of all 001 websites is enthusiastic about opportunities for 2009. He said, “The year gone has seen some great innovations across the internet with a number of interesting new start-ups and social networking sites like Facebook and Bebo extending the user base to unimaginable numbers.
“The social web has really left an impact on users and webmasters and social features are now common on all new blogs and sites.
“Even Twitter, the start-up that nobody could find a positive word about has become fashionable and used by a wide variety of internet users.
“This is a great time to get new websites established. If you have the ideas, the time and the talent then make moves now to get going on these projects. They're unlikely to come to fruition overnight, but investment now will pay dividends in years to come.
“Webmasters are helped too by the amazing speed at which browsers are being developed, in particular with their ability to handle heavy loads of Javascript. Even Mircosoft has been forced to get its act together and 2009 will see the launch of Internet Explorer 8.
“We are now looking at the development of the third decade of internet activity, or, as it will be known as, Web 3.0.
“RSS 001 was launched as the world's first semantic feed directory and utilizes both advanced semantic tagging and RDF microformats in order to help organise the user-generated content more thoroughly.
“Spam is just a much of a problem now as it was at the start of 2008, but the “dofollow” community is still growing and finding new ways of dealing with the pitfalls of the net age at the same time as creating stronger connections between themselves and their readers.
“DoFollow 001 is concerned with being a focus point for all of the “dofollow” community and has got off to a terrific start after being launched in November 2008.
“Those with “dofollow” sites are encouraged to submit their blogs for inclusion in the index.”
