March 22, 2008 - Honolulu will be buzzing between the 15th and 20th of March as the National Scholastic Surfing Regional Championships presented by RVCA hits the waters of Kewalo Basin for three of the best competition days provided by mother nature.
Over 180 surfers from Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai and the Big Island converge at the contest stomping ground known as "Kewalo's" for some close up and personal surfing action.
Included is a list of competitors that have the impact to make it big in the world of professional surfing.
In the Mini Grom Maui's Imai DeVault, Honolulu's Seth Moniz and north shore Oahu multi-talented Kalani David.
The Boy's division include the much improve ratings leader Makai McNamara, Kain Daly, Big Island's Lahikiola Minamishin and Kauai's Koa Smith.
Leading the pack in the Juniors is Maui's Tanner Hendrickson, Keanu Asing and John Florence from Oahu as well as Kaimana Jaquias from Kauai.
Women's leader Alessa Quizon from west Oahu is the one to beat, followed by Malia Manuel from Kauai. The north shore Oahu vet Coco Ho is another familiar face along with Kauai's Nage Melamed.
Finally, in the Explorer Boy's, homegrown Kewalo talent Ezekiel Lau leads the field and Matty Costa.
At the conclusion of the event, an awards ceremony will be held at Dave and Busters from 5:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.
