May 15, 2008 - Burlingame, California- Putnam Buick Pontiac GMC, the foremost dealership for Buick, Pontiac and GMC vehicles in Burlingame, California announces the availability of the 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid - the World's first two-mode
hybrid SUV.
The 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid, features the world's first two-mode hybrid propulsion system in an SUV. The vehicle combines innovative hybrid technology and Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation technology and delivers a brilliant combination of fuel efficiency and power.
This full-size SUV is the first in market with a two-mode hybrid system which provides segment-leading fuel economy while delivering all the performance one expects from a hybrid SUV. The first mode of the system is for low speed and light loads. In this mode, the hybrid system can operate with either electric power, engine power, or a combination of engine and electric power. The second mode is primarily used at highway speeds.
The GMC Yukon Hybrid features a 6.0L aluminum small-block Vortec V-8 engine producing 332 horsepower at 5100 rpm and 367 pound-feet of torque at 4100 rpm.
To offset the added weight from the hybrid propulsion system, certain vehicle components are redesigned to optimize aerodynamics. Significant design changes include a new hood, front and rear fascias and a sleek grille.
