1DaySports.com, an aggressive tech startup in the daily deal space has been aquired by a strategic private investor out of Los Angeles. Started by Jason Wilk, a 22 year old online strategist from Los Angeles who began the business in Octber of 2007.


Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) April 11, 2008 - 1DaySports.com, an aggressive tech startup in the daily deal space has been aquired by a strategic private investor out of Los Angeles. Started by Jason Wilk, a 22 year old online strategist from Los Angeles, he began the business in Octber of 2007.

1DaySports.com is a daily deal site for sports products online. A similar business model to the Home Shopping Network, one item is sold per day with a limited amount of time and quantity. Once the item has run out of time (24 hours for each item) or quantity, a new item is replaced to be sold. Specializing in selling backend inventory for major online retailers, this business became a quick success in the online shopping space for athletes. Reaching 100,000 users per month in an astonishgly short period of time with $0 advocated for marketing, this was a quick viral success amongst athletes looking for geat quick deals. Starting out by selling golf products, 1DaySports recieved recogniton with an article in Golf World magazine. After 3 months of running the business, Jason teamed the business with GolfBuzz.com, a specialized social network for golfers in which the daily deal became an integral part of GolfBuzzīs large user base. 1DaySports was the second daily deal business ever created on the web, and since it has become a blazing hot space, with over 100 startups created in the same year following itīs inception. DODTracker.com entered into the daily deal market to keep track of all the new competiton and rank the deals according to popularirty. 1DaySports.com consistently topped his list of most popular sites. After 1 year of running the site, Jason decided it would be a good time to sell and gain some recognition to help fund future projects. Within 48 hours of going on the market, it was locked into a purchase agreement. The buyers, also out of Los Angeles, saw the ability to develop the business across other sports verticals and grow it into an even larger phenomenon. Jason recently finished development of his second business, Butiku.com, a virtual shopping marketplace that lets fashion boutiques obtain a virutal building withinn the cityscape and sell their prducts. He and his other partners as well scoured the major shopping destinations of the country to build an interactive shopping directory for fashion boutiques. They were determined to infiltrate the scene with their ambitions. The project is currently being looked at to be acquired by a top name fashion blog.
