19-year-old Des Moines Author Publishes First Major Piece Of Fiction

Full-time Iowa State student Alexandra Borzo Canas publishes her first major piece, a novella titled “In All Her (Naked) Glory”. Although subtly so, the story takes place in Iowa’s capital city, and targets its growing young-adult population with the story of a woman living a self-destructive lifestyle.

Des Moines, IA (1888PressRelease) May 03, 2008 - Iowa - 19-year-old burgeoning author Alexandra Borzo Canas publishes her first major piece of contemporary fiction, titled "In All Her Naked Glory". A novella-length work, this story briefly visits the life of a young-woman who, like so many of her peers, has deemed herself undesirable. Borzo Canas explores the social phenomena of self-degradation for the sake of self-assurance, with women using physicality to measure their worth in its entirety. It is currently available both for purchase in book-form and in download, at http://stores.lulu.com/ambcanas.

Being so young herself, Alexandra Borzo Canas is eager to reach out to the young-adult population and explore the social issues of their generation. Also a budding photographer, she strives to illustrate the life of today’s 20-somes in an artistic and entertaining fashion. “In All Her (Naked) Glory” tells the story of a troubled girl, but maintains a zany voice that carries the reader through to a happy ending.

Among many other themes, Borzo Canas emphasizes that of optimism.

With the promise to write for years to come, Borzo Canas celebrates her first publication with thoughts of her next. “The more people I ask, the more insist that their 20s were some of their hardest times,” she says. “Even if my stories can’t provide my readers the specific answers they’re looking for, I hope to at least offer them that temporary escape.”

For those who can catch them, the Des Moines references in Borzo Canas’ story add an additional perk for central Iowans. Gray’s Lake, Lincoln High School, and Club Statik are among the locations she mentions.

For those eager to support a young talent and local author, “In All Her (Naked) Glory” will be a purchase well worth it. Smiling and laughing until the very last page, it’s a strong first piece and a quick, enjoyable read that proves to be well worth the time.
