June 26, 2009 - The Solar Decathlon is a competition in which 20 college and university student teams compete to design, build, and operate the most attractive, effective, and energy-efficient solar-powered house. It is regarded as one of the most important and prestigious renewable energy related competitions in the world.
This year’s event will take place on the National Mall in October. In line with the patriotic theme, red, white and blue Meteor solar LED lights will be on display. Before being accepted for installation at the National Mall, Meteor Solar LED paver/ground lights had to go through a series of sophisticated tests conducted by the engineers of NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory). Our products have been approved by the United States’ primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development as meeting the standards for high-quality, innovative and durable solar lighting products.
In addition to being sponsor, Meteor Lighting has also formed a partnership with three university teams (out of twenty competing schools), including Rice University, Penn State and Team California (Santa Clara University / California College of the Arts). Meteor Solar LED lighting fixtures will be used in all these schools’ solar houses.

All Meteor solar LED paver/ground light units are available in five colors: red, green, blue, amber and white. They
are completely self-contained and self-powered, emitting no harmful Co2 to the environment. They are made of high-quality, resilient materials (SUS304 stainless steel) that make them suitable for high-end construction projects. The units have a high load tolerance, meet the requirements for IP68 certification and have a 7 to 10 year long-lifespan ultra-capacitor power storage capacity. They should make it easier for you to meet the LEED requirements. They are also compliant with the RoHs directives.
