October 02, 2007 - Toronto, Ontario - A local Toronto 10 handicap golfer has made it his mission to become the number 1 ranked player in the world. Shakil Zaman, a 25 year old Scarborough resident believes he has what it takes to improve and elevate his game to the highest level. When asked why he believes he can accomplish such an astounding feat he simply answered, 'Because I choose to. I believe we create what we focus on and my focus is on being the best not second or third.'
For the game of golf, the age of 25 is still very young as many professionals are able to compete well beyond the age of 40. Also, Shakil believes that with the enhancements of modern medical science, soon even 70-80 year olds will be able to compete at the highest level in the game of golf. Shakil is currently seeking support to fund his development into professional golf. He has created a unique investment opportunity where he is offering to share 50% of all his professional earnings with his investors. He is also actively pursuing ways in which he can create income himself by exploring various business opportunities both online and offline.
Quite simply, the man is on a mission and will not give up on his dreams of being a successful PGA tour professional. He believes that it is critical that you see yourself as a winner and as a success and that you must block out any thoughts of failure. He mentions that while growing up he always knew in his heart that he was going to be a professional golfer but the country he grew up in did not have any real golf development programs. Thus the college route to professional golf was not an option. After arriving to Canada a few years ago, he saw a whole new world of opportunity and is now very excited about his future. He mentions that anyone can accomplish their dreams and that it is simply a matter of choice.
Professional golf is extremely competitive as there are nearly 20 million golfers just in North America alone. The path to become a professional for most that do not take the college path will involve going to PGA Qualifying Tournaments which are held from September to December each year and a select few make the PGA Tour. This is the path Shakil has chosen to take, he believes in 2 years he will be ready to qualify for the PGA Tour and he has set a target to be on the PGA tour full time for the 2011 season.
