  • Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) August 11, 2009 - Empowerment, networking and professional development will be at the top of the agenda of the Washington Working Women’s Forum, to be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at The Marvin Center at George Washington University. This dynamic half-day gathering organized by 2Hats Network LLC and Attaché Services is sponsored by George Washington University, Washington Mystics and The UPS Store. Media Partners include Pink Magazine and Success in the City. The forum will bring together Washington DC area thought leaders in business, academia, government and advocacy groups to discuss the critical topics of flexibility and career advancement of women.

“Washington DC is the ideal location to bring these disparate groups together to discuss the evolving workforce of the 21st century, the importance of balance to the new group of workers, and the challenges and benefits in bringing it to fruition” said Feyi Boroffice, President of 2Hats Network LLC.

The Opening Keynote Speaker will be Rebecca Cooper, Anchor of Washington Business Tonight on News Channel 8. Rebecca is a celebrated journalist and mother of 3 boys. She is the recipient of several journalism awards, including the Peabody, DuPont, Murrow, Cable Ace and Emmy awards and served as Chief of Staff to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Bill Richardson during the Clinton Administration.

The Closing Keynote Speaker will be Marissa Levin, Founder and CEO of Information Experts, an 8(a) certified, award-winning consultancy founded in 1995. Marissa has led the organization's entry into the federal market to achieve a sizeable presence in more than 14 agencies. Marissa will discuss how she built a multimillion dollar business while raising 2 boys: "I am honored to be able to speak at such an important and necessary event. I've learned many difficult lessons over the past 14 years as I have simultaneously built my business and my family. The journey has been difficult but has enabled me to accomplish ambitious goals both personally and professionally that I never thought possible. I look forward to sharing my lessons with other women executives who overcome similar challenges on a daily basis, and I look forward to learning from them as well."

The forum will include a distinguished panel of experts who will discuss current work-life challenges and share strategies for focusing on measurable results, and creating environments that offer support to women’s choices and professional development. "The Washington Working Women’s Forum is a much needed injection of knowledge and networking in an area that receives a lot of talk, but not a lot of action. That area is work life balance" said panelist Kathy Korman Frey, founder of the Hot Mommas Project and George Washington University School of Business adjunct professor of management. “Forum attendees will have the wonderful opportunity to hear from industry leaders and entrepreneurs who are at the leading edge of this movement to explore the challenges and rewards, and examine the role of government in facilitating this process” said Alicia Anderson, CEO of Attaché Services LLC.
