    About the Book
A highly entertaining anecdotal collection of humorous life observations during a trip around the world. Travelling by bus to Kathmandu, the author experiences hair-raising misadventures: a chase through Jerusalem, a gun battle in Jordan, a pummelling by a gargantuan masseur in Istanbul, a python in India, and the terrifying James Bond encounter in Australia. His portrait of an Afghani shopkeeper has a bizarre twist. Time-travelling detours punctuate interesting stories about the Taj Mahal, Sydney Opera House, Tahiti, Easter Island statues and Christ in Rio. More than a travelogue, personal insights and character portrayals are underscored by whimsical humour.

    About the Author
John Meadows is a retired Head of an Arts Faculty who was born in St. Helens but 'crossed the rugby Rubicon' and now lives in Wigan. He works as an artist spending much of his time at his home in Spain. John is a graduate of Leeds University and he has a Master's Degree from Manchester University. His love of art and travel has taken him to over one hundred countries throughout the world.

John previously published another collection of anecdotal stories in a humorous book aptly entitled "You Did Say 'Have Another Sausage'"?

Having thoroughly enjoyed John Meadows' first book of funny reminiscences "You did say have another sausage" (the tile of which is explained in the book itself) I was happy to see his second book "Ten camels for my wife" available on Amazon just the other day. It arrived yesterday and I read it from cover to cover in one sitting. It tells of John's travels around the world with his wife Norma and friends in the late 1970s. It is an entertaining and informative travelogue with potted histories of the places visited and funny commentaries on their adventures and encounters. It tells of events and situations that made me smile and sometimes laugh out loud as this hapless group make their way to their various destinations the long way round. With lots of humorous asides and whimsical musings along the way the narrative is engaging and the tone friendly and conversational. I heartily recommend this book but if you read it on the bus, be prepared to explain your fixed grin or occasional chortle!
