(1888PressRelease) November 08, 2006 - National Golf Tournament For Real Men Charities Enhances Father's Day Celebrations

NEW YORK, NY (November 7, 2006)—The African American Golfer's Digest and Real Men Cook® will be bringing fathers, families and communities together in five major cities next year, not only for the national Father’s Day events that are family celebrations, but also for a spectacular day of great golf. The multi-city national golf tournament is a partnership between Real Men Charities (www.RealMenCook.com) and The African American Golfer’s Digest(www.AfricanAmericanGolfersDigest.com), the nation's leading publication for avid black golfers.

Tee off times occur nationally on Monday, June 18, 2007, in leading cities across the country. In Atlanta at the Lake Spivey Golf Club (Jonesboro, GA); in Chicago at the Joe Louis Golf Course (Riverdale, IL); in Dallas at the Cedar Crest Golf Course; in Los Angeles at Chester Washington Golf Course; and in Washington, DC. at the historic Langston Legacy Golf Course. Overall, more than 700 players and over 3,000 persons are expected to attend this community fundraiser event that follows on the Monday after Father’s Day.

Real Men Charities, Inc. is the national presenting nonprofit for Real Men Cook® the largest and longest running annual Father’s Day celebration of Real Men and families cooking for charities in the community. Since 1999 Real Men Cook® events have been held in as many as 12 leading cities, all at the same time on Father’s Day. The group is preparing for a fall airing of the Emeril Live! TV show devoted entirely to Real Men Cook® and family celebrations featured in the book: Real Men Cook: Rites Rituals & Recipes for Living issued by Simon & Schuster and the paperback Real Men Cook: 100 Recipes for Family Celebrations released early this year and being featured as a fall gift item along with the company’s Real Men Cook Sweet Potato Pound Cake® mix, which is a gourmet product available at retail.

For 2007, a golf tournament partnership with the African American Golfer’s Digest brings yet another extraordinary dimension to the national fundraising efforts of Real Men Charities, Inc., a 501(c) 3 and the presenting nonprofit of Real Men Cook, while supporting an activity that has quickly become the fastest growing sport among African Americans. “This tournament is a natural collaborative between our two organizations. Yvette Moyo, Real Men Cook co-founder, credited with changing the way communities celebrate Father’s Day in this country, and I have been friends and business associates for years, and now, we believe this is the perfect time for a community collaborative event like this, “says, Debert Cook, publisher of the 3-year-old national quarterly that is based in New York Cty.

According to Yvette Moyo, “Our goal is to dispel the myth that we have no real men in our communities and focus on the generous, creative and committed men who care about and positively contribute to their families, food culture and communities.” It is also her goal to continue to use the funds raised through Real Men Charities, Inc. to inform, educate, and build healthier families and communities. “Golfing is just another way to get out, get active and involve the family and community.”

Known as an expert brand builder, and National Community Builder, Moyo credits the more than 1000 men who participate in the National Father’s Day events and other programs for outstanding community and volunteer service throughout the year. Participation includes more than thirty health related programs from obesity awareness and prostate cancer to diabetes and general family health in addition to the Real Men Cook Health & Wellness Pavilions added to the Father’s Day events four years ago. Other Real Men Charities, Inc. initiatives include Real Men Cook Dinner at Daddy's House®, an all-male Sunday dinner for youth and older men; Real Men Cooking With Kids®; which is a fun program involving fresh foods and easy to prepare at home meals; Men's Appreciation Day®, which is a presentation by adult males to young high school and elementary school males and Real Life, an orientation to the business of food from retail to restaurant, presented in high schools.

Earlier this year, Moyo in partnership with the Illinois Youth Advocate Program and Justice Productions launched a tour of Real Men Talking, a multimedia stage play that entertains and explores issues African American males face from relationships and health to education, responsibility and fatherhood.

The Real Men fundraiser programs and events provide ample opportunities for fathers, families, friends and communities to bond and relax. For more information on Real Men Golf, sponsorship opportunities, or to register visit www.RealMenGolf.com or call (212) 571-6559, ext. 11 or 773 651-8008.
